E85 (vehicles that burn 85% ethanol...primarily from corn, and just 15% gas) are a great idea. They are helping our nation lessen it's dependance on foreign oil. It also is supposed to provide better performance and burn cleaner.

Any idea how the performance compares to current ratings? My Tahoe is 10 yrs old and will need to be replaced. I love the fact that when I need the power, very much so when Im towing, I just need to push the throttle a little and "whoop there it is". Can/will ethanol provide this?

And yes, "screw the middle east."

Matt,

If you are looking to replace yer Tahoe w/ a new one, the new GM SUVs operate on both reg. gasoline and/or Ethanol. When we start getting ethanol pumps around here, you will be able to use it.

As for performance. I have read a few different articles in which the E85 tahoe actually ran the same times as the reg. gas version in acceleration tests. For the most part, I don't think you would even notice the difference between the 2 fuels.

Regarding the price of the fuel. In Minn., the Ethanol Mixture runs a little bit cheaper than the reg. gasoline.

What about up front cost for the vehicle as compared to standard vehicles?

Matt,

I don't think there is a cost difference at all. It is the same vehicle/engine, it will just run on either reg. gas or a mixture up to 85%.
