NOVEMBER HIGHLIGHTS
By Marilyn Appner-Falor C.O. Sgt (Ret)

I’m glad the elections are finally over.
All but two of those we endorsed were elected. October was a busy month. I had knee surgery on Oct. 15th. We went to 3 Halloween parties dressed as Pirates (me with crutches).
There were several meetings about a heath care provider change. Once the first group (of over 65) makes a decision, there will be another group of retirees (reaching age 65) elligible each 6 months.
Some of the concerns this first group had is:
1. what will happen to the Eye Care portion of our coverage if the county goes with another provider?
2. Some employees had Paramount which allowed “unlimited Extended Care Nursing.”
Will that be the same? Do they have that in writing?
3. If a retiree’s and their spouse who were formerly covered by another provider (such as the auto companies) who may be loosing their benefits, can they and their spouse be added and covered by the new provider?
There are many questions that still need to be answered.

On Oct. 28, 2008, Rosemary Cousino’s family had a surprise 80th birthday party for her in the atrium of the Meyer Theatre, MCCC college. Yes, she really was surprised. There was a full crowd, great food, and even a band. MAF
